Parliament tasks gov't on Ugandans held in Myanmar
Legislators sitting on the defense and internal Affairs committee of Parliament have tasked the Ministry of Internal affairs to explain why Uganda police has not yet arrested the directors of the companies that recruited Ugandans that ended up in the hands of rebel captives in Myanmar.
According to legislators, they have received reports that the rebels in Myanmar are now demanding the hostages to pay between 8000 and 10,000 US dollars for each to be released.

The issue of the hundreds of Ugandans said to be distressed abroad continue to attract the attention of legislators and other concerned entities.
The legislators said they concerned that the directors of the recruiting companies that recruited Ugandans that ended up in the hands of rebels in Myanmer are still on the loose.
According to the committee members, they have received reports that the rebels are now demanding between 8000 and 10,000 US dollars for each captive to be released and some governments have paid up the money and their citizens released.
However, both the State Minister for internal affairs Gen David Muhoozi and the head of the anti trafficking department Julius Twinomujuni, efforts are under way to rescue the victims and so far four have been released and are now in Thailand detention centres.

They are now proposing for an initiation of an insurance policy to all the migrants workers but to committee members the issue of bank guarantees should be the main focus if stranded Ugandans are to be rescued.
